42K - Marathon

42 km | 1,550m ascent | ~80% trail | ~20% gravel

The race starts and finishes at Norefjell Ski & Spa. The first 3 km follow a gravel road up towards Leppejuvet — a great warm-up to get your legs moving and your excitement building for the beautiful mountain terrain ahead.

From there, the course continues with a mix of flat, uphill, and downhill sections towards Narumseter (5 km). Here, runners take a sharp right turn off the dirt road and onto a narrow singletrack trail that climbs up into the mountains.

The trail is steep and narrow at first, but soon the terrain opens up. The climb continues alongside beautiful mountain creeks, gradually leading to just below the mountain plateau. At about 10 km, marathon runners turn left, following a soft singletrack trail down to the Tempelseter aid station (13 km).

Next comes a scenic loop around Gamlesætra — a charming mountain hut area beside a long lake, where you'll reach the second aid station at around 17 km. Most of this section follows dirt road, giving runners a faster stretch before turning off at the 20 km mark onto a trail and a steep climb that reconnects with the route back to the Tempelseter aid station (23 km).

Leaving Tempelseter for the second time, runners take on another short climb up to Istjern, looping around the lake before beginning the demanding ascent to the highest point of the course, at 1,300 m. From the summit, a runnable trail leads back down towards Norefjell, retracing the way you came up.

The final stretch is more runnable, and at around 39 km you'll reach the HOKA Fly segment. After a short uphill comes the last descent — the Defender Downhill — a technical challenge on rocky trails. Some sections are steep, so take care, and be aware of faster descenders here.

Once you're down from the technical section, the finish line comes into view. Give it everything you have left, cross the line, and celebrate your achievement with fellow runners!
